Today
was a day full of loving your neighbor as yourself. We had plans of
going on an overnight backpacking trip but God had other plans than
ours. We started the day out with a phone call that one of our fellow
church members had passed away. This was very sudden and sad. We
decided to go get our check for this week and to go ahead and plan to
go for a day hike instead of an over-nighter and then hike another
trail in the morning, but God had other plans again for us today. We
were at the bank getting our check cashed and the phone rang and it
was our friend calling in a frantic need. We hurried to her call!
Our
friend whom we had just left called to say, Come quick there is a
snake in my laundry room and I think it is a poisonous one . So off
we went in a hurry to help get the snake out of the house. It turned
out to be around a three foot or so black rat snake. She was so
scared. Katy Did and I calmed her down and set with her as Grounded
Haug and her husband got the snake out of the laundry room and set
him free far away from her home.
Then
on our way back home to decide on where to go for a hike again,
another friend was in their cow pasture trying to coral some of their
bulls by herself. We stopped and proceeded to help wrangle up the
bulls with her. Katy Did was out there helping to separate the bulls
with fearlessness. Then one of the bulls who is deaf was not
breathing well and we helped to load him on the trailer so he could
be separated from the herd. Our friend took him home so he could get
better. So as you see we never made it hiking today but it was a
blessing to be able to help all of our neighbors today instead of
serving ourselves. It is always better to give than to receive. It is
better to love your neighbor more than yourself. It was truly a
blessed day today.
Many
Blessings,
